Flat-woven, with brocading: wool
A great antique tribal flat-weave by the Yomut Turkmens of Central Asia, in brocaded flat-weave technique. A century ago, when this kilim was woven, every Yomut girl of marriage age created a piece like this, along with a number of rugs, bags and other weavings as part of her dowry. A very fine example of the type that fortunately survived in excellent state of preservation.
