A very good example of Caucasian weaving from the Shirvan region. Though these ivory ground prayer rugs may seem alike from a distance, this one has a great range of colors and variation in design including some very charming personal details: note the scissors and comb at the top, tools used by the weaver, and the profusion of "s" hook motifs, a common good luck charm on the edges of the field.
