A tribal floor cover made in felt technique - matting, condensing and pressing wool fibers, possibly the oldest form of wool fabric. Felt rugs like this were the everyday floor covers in nomads' tents and village homes from the Balkans to Central Asia. This large example is very well built, sturdy and double sided, featuring a characteristic Uzbek-Turkmen design.
