A great old tribal rug from Northeastern Turkey, possibly by the Kurdish tribes, with a rather Primitive design, soft wool and chunky weave. There is an illegible inscription, possibly the name of the weaver and the date, 1992, which is surprisingly late-authentic weaving traditions survived in this remote highland region, long after they ceased elsewhere.
