An old tribal bag woven by one of the Baluch tribal groups who inhabit the border regions between Iran and Afghanistan. The front is woven essentially a small rug in knotted pile technique; the back is a striped flat-weave. Amazingly soft wool, cheerful colors on a dark background.
Such pieces were used either for storage and transport of personal belongings, or stuffed to make cushions. It can be used as a rug or made into a cushion again.
