A highly unusual antique kilim from a region in Eastern Turkey that is famous with its finely woven kilims. This is a rather large piece and the design is quite unique in our experience, as most Erzurum kilims are in small format, often featuring prayer arch designs. The brilliant color palette includes a very saturated blue-green in the two large medallion and a deep red derived from cochineal in the background.
This is a great example of kilim art, worthy of any collection, that is also suitable for floor use.
