Morocco, Middle Atlas Mountains: Late 20th Century
Knotted pile: wool
A great old Berber carpet from Morocco, woven by the Beni Mguild tribes of the Middle Atlas Mountains. An interesting example featuring a somewhat unusual design type in richly saturated tones of purple, blue and orange. A very large, heavy and sturdy carpet.

Though less famous than their neighbors, the Beni Ouarain, the weavings of the Beni Mguild represent an equally rich, authentic and ancient tradition of Berber culture.
