A fantastic example of "Tulu" style weaving, attributed to the Karapinar region in Central Turkey. Woven entirely with angora (mohair), the long, silky hair of the local angora (Ankara) goat, such rugs were made for domestic use, to provide warmth and comfort for the weaver's family.

This piece was originally in the collection for Dr. Ayan Gulgonen and was published in his 1989 catalogue.
