A very rare small format rug by the Beni Mguild of the Central Middle Atlas region - the design, while following the familiar grid theme, is a highly unusual and powerful improvisation. Note the faded mauve color running along the black-brown lines. Lustrous wool, relatively soft structure, a really interesting example of Moroccan Berber art of weaving.
