Iran, Northern Persia: Mid-20th Century
Flat-weave (kilim): wool
A large old tribal flat-weave from Northern Iran, woven in five narrow panels and used as a simple, utilitarian floor cover in the weaver's household. The colors are all natural (un-dyed) shades of wool ranging from ivory to dark brown. Despite its humble origins, it has tremendous modern/minimalist appeal and great authentic charm that cannot be imitated by its contemporary look-alikes.
