A large kilim from the Balkans, a type referred to as "Sharkoy", after the old Turkish name of the town of Pirot in southeastern Serbia, historically an important center of production for such weavings. This is a very nice mid-20th century example, featuring an interesting interpretation of a classical Sharkoy design.
