An old tribal rug from Southwestern Iran, referred to as a "gabbeh", a relatively coarsely woven type with simple design and color palette, popular among almost all of the tribal groups living in the Zagros mountains.
Not to be confused with the commercial carpets of the same name, this is an authentic home-made rug, probably woven by the Qashqai tribes. The in-woven date on the upper left corresponds to 1958.
