Two-Panel Kilim with Scattered Motifs

(DK-112-65)
6'2" x 8'7" (188cm x 262cm)
Turkey, Central Anatolia: Late 20th Century
Flat-weave (kilim): wool, goat hair, cotton
A simple old tribal flat-weave, consisting of two panels woven on a narrow loom, as is typical for many tribal weavings. Tonal variations create subtle color blocks and a sprinkling of motifs in "jijim" brocading add visual interest. It takes a while to appreciate its authentic, honest beauty.
