A beautiful antique "suzani" embroidery from Uzbekistan, in a style generally associated with the city of Bukhara. Stylized floral medallions of varying sizes, surrounded by scrolling vines, rendered in silk on a hand-woven white cotton cloth, are scattered evenly between the borders and the field.
Used as ceremonial bed covers and wall hangings, pieces like this are associated with local wedding customs and are among the most impressive examples of textile art anywhere.
