A large embroidered cover, called a "suzani", made in a style attributed to the city of Samarkand in Uzbekistan - a lovely example from the later periods when the country was part of the Soviet Union.

Used as ceremonial bed covers and wall hangings, pieces like this are associated with local wedding customs.

Very well preserved, sturdy and clean. Backed with linen.
