Morocco, Middle Atlas Mountains: Mid-20th Century
Knotted pile: wool
A great old example of Moroccan Berber weaving, attributed to the Beni Ouarain tribes of the Middle Atlas. The classic diamond grid pattern is enlivened here with unique details that are reminiscent of enigmatic rock carvings. The wool quality and patina are excellent, as expected from a carpet with real age like this one.
