Flat-weave (kilim), "jijim" brocading technique: wool, goat hair

The background in this old tribal flat-weave from Western Turkey is made of a mixture of cotton and goat hair, creating a heathered effect. This, combined with the subtle colors in Jijim brocading, make the rug appear as if it is very worn, when it is, in fact, in very good condition. A great looking floor cover.
