Morocco, Middle Atlas Mountains: Late 20th Century
Knotted pile: wool
An old Moroccan Berber rug from the Middle Atlas Mountains, attributed to the Beni Mguild tribes. Monochromatic rugs, with variations in color intensity and with minimal or no motifs, are typical for this tribe and red is one of their favorite colors. This is a good example with high quality wool and nice patina and with lower pile height than usual.
