Turkey, Eastern Anatolia: Mid-20th Century
Flat-woven, slit tapestry technique: wool
A great example of Anatolian Kurdish weaving from the Northeastern part of the country. Authentic weaving traditions survived well into the 20th century in these remote and isolated regions. Two columns of hooked diamonds are executed in typical Kurdish style with lots of intricate filler motifs. A very high quality piece in excellent state of preservation.
