A classic tribal transport bag or "chuval" from the Antep-Maras region in Southeastern Turkey, opened up to be used as a floor rug, table cover or a wall hanging. The decorated middle section was originally the front of the bag, while the plain-woven bands comprised the back. Made strictly for domestic use, these bags were the best examples of age-old tribal weaving traditions, with particular motifs signifying tribal lineage of their weavers.
