A simple, shaggy tribal rug from Central Turkey, intended to be used as a "yatak" or sleeping mat. With no dyes or decoration, other than random rows of knots brown wool, it arguably represents the origins of knotted pile weaving. A very high quality example of this type with excellent wool and great patina. Its authentic simplicity cannot be imitated by modern look-alikes. Great minimalist appeal. Increasingly difficult to find these days.
